Gels and Lighting Effects

Hey Everyone,

Since we are using gels to create different lighting effects for the shoot, we have to make some decisions.

First of all, if we want FREE gels, we can get them from Mopac Media, or find out if equipment check out has some gels. However, our choices will be limited. At work right now there are some awesome gels, but they are either too pink or too green for the spotlight scene.

Some choices are: Moroccan Frost, Moroccan Pink, Marine Blue, and some other greens that I didn't try out

If we want specific colors, like purples and blues, we would need to purchase some at Olden Lighting, which costs $6.95 for every 20x24" sheet.

Here is the place where you can look at the colors online: http://www.leefilters.com/lighting/products/colours/

The colors at work are beautiful. Great effects. But is it what we want?

i have some gels if you want to look through them. mainly blues - full and quarters. i have a plus green and some way warm gel. probably not for us though.

CTB isn't really an effect. It just balances the color temperature. I'm thinking more of what happens on a stage for live music or a theatrical performance.

Also, where are we getting equipment from this week for our test shoot? Should I schedule stuff at work or are we heading to equipment check out?

well we do need a warm gel for the lighting in the doorway. I think we might want to use a cooler gel in the studio just to see its effects. or a warm one too. just to make the light interesting. I'm trying to think of other gels, oh we might need a cool one for the room scene, there's a moonlight hitting raul's face. I'm not sure if equipment checkout gives us gels. we should make a list soon, and we can borrow some gels or buy a few.
